Local police are continuing to investigate an act of animal cruelty that took place at a local school before Christmas.
According to officers from the Young Police Station two ducks from Murrumburrah High School were killed on Thursday December 19, 2024.
"Officers from the Hume Police District responded to a report that two ducks had been killed in the grounds of an education facility on Smith Street, Harden, about 30km south of Young," police said.
"Officers have been informed that the Saxony breed ducks were secured in an enclosure on the grounds and were owned by the institution."
Acting Inspector Mark Lake said the incident was believed to have occurred sometime between 6pm on Wednesday December 18 and 8.30am on Thursday December 19, 2024.

Acting Inspector Lake said the incident was deeply disturbing.
"These animals have been subjected to an horrific act of cruelty," he said.
"It is clear that the ducks were well cared for by the facility and for someone to do this is beyond belief."
The incident shocked and upset many local residents and students, not only in Harden Murrumburrah, but right across the Hilltops and the state following the story being picked up by a major Sydney news program.
Local officers are calling on anyone within the community who may have information about or surrounding the incident to please get in contact with them.
"We are urging anyone who may have any information about this matter - or who were in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage - to contact Young Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," Acting Inspector Lake said.
