Fostering a strong sense of community

Drew Willis has been a key figure at the Senior Soccer club for the past five years, stepping into the role of President three years ago after initially helping out behind the scenes.

As the club prepares for the upcoming season, Willis remains focused on ensuring success both on and off the field, while maintaining the club’s strong sense of community.

Willis has been with the club about five years and that has been marked by steady involvement, transitioning from a supportive role to one of leadership.

His commitment to the organisation has helped shape it into a thriving community for soccer players of all levels.

Taking on the presidency was a natural step for Willis, who has dedicated himself to ensuring the club runs smoothly and remains an inviting place for players and supporters.

His goal is to foster a strong team spirit, where players and supporters can enjoy the game while striving for competitive success.

Willis prides himself on being someone people can turn to, whether for club matters or just a casual chat.

Providing a pathway for players beyond junior competitions is one of Willis’ biggest motivators.

“The club, the people in the club, just making sure everybody who wants to play soccer has somewhere they can play soccer after the juniors," he said.

He believes in giving everyone the opportunity to stay involved in the sport, ensuring they have a place to continue playing and developing their skills.

“It’s a really great community of people at the club," he said.

"It’s just a very easy-going club, there’s no drama, there’s no battles, there’s nothing inter-club going on.

"It’s just very chill, easy-going.”
